So here's what I want to know: where has ABC's collective brain gone? Who on Earth decided that it was a good idea to have Lost and Alias -- two of their premiere shows -- take one hour *and one minute* each week? So far, I *think* I've consistently remembered to tape Alias from 9:01 to 10:02 each Wednesday, but I'm going to be really annoyed if I find that I'm missing the ends of episodes because, say, I let the DVR tape the times it *thought* the show was supposed to run. (The DVR's minimum granularity is five minutes, so it thinks the shows are in the normal slots.) If they keep this up, I'm going to have to reconsider watching the shows, simply due to the ongoing hassle of trying to record them properly.

The only explanation I've thought of is that someone at ABC has decided that time-shifting is evil, and so they are going to try and make life as hard as possible for the time-shifters. Which I could imagine a TV exec deciding ("Oooh, those terrible time-shifters who are skipping through our beautifully-crafted advertisements!"), but it violates the cardinal rule of sales: Don't Piss Off Your Customers...
