Life is mostly Househousehousehousehouse right now. Buying a house is stressful; selling a house is stressful; doing both at once is a uniquely piquant level of stress. I'm attempting to Flylady it, doing a bit of coordinating each day. Today's projects were making sure that the bank's lawyer had the title search under way, and having the landscapers over to look over the old house and give an estimate for sprucing it up. (As it were.) That's fairly typical, now that we're past the *real* crush of contract signing for the new house.
msmemory and I have a rather severe case of Wanna Beeeee There right now. Having committed to the move (and internalized that yes, the new house has its own flaws and foibles), we want to get it done and over with. I do think the new place will be quite nice once we've settled in, but moving and packing is going to be hellish. We do have motivation, though: we're both eager to begin entertaining again, and want to get to the housewarming party as soon as possible.
On the positive side, my uncle informed me last night that they've finished with my grandfather's estate, and we are getting the oriental rug along with some nice end tables. (Unbeknownst to me, my grandmother willed me the rug years ago -- which is great, since it's one of the two things from their house that msmemory and I had decided we really liked.) On the negative side, my uncle is only getting it all as far as NJ, so we're going to have to find a way to get a nine foot rug (and other stuff) up here from there. There may be a road trip in a U-Haul in our future.
Other than House, life is mostly Work. We're in the final stages of a critical new release, and the stakes are high. We've decided to hitch our wagon to Salesforce for the time being: our technology works *really* well for sales applications, and they desperately want a good web conferencing product, so we're shortly going to release a pretty nice integration. (It takes swallowing the corporate ego a bit, but hooking onto one of the major up-and-comers can be a good strategy.) Shortly it will all be in the hands of the Sales department, but for the moment we're still in that tense time of seeing whether there are any remaining significant bugs...
